RLSLOG search: Google or Custom

I’ve changed the search form in the right menu from a custom in-house search to Google Search. The reason for this was that standard Wordpress search is sometimes not working too well, displaying totally irrelevant results. I received few complaints about it, however, after the change to Google, another group of people sent me a feedback that they don’t like the new search engine. The main reason is that Google doesn’t sort the results according to the time of post, as the old search did.

Please vote in the poll displayed in the right menu or leave a feedback here in comments and we will decide which one is the way to go.

UPDATE: OK, I guess it’s more than obvious the majority of our visitors prefer the old Custom search so I will switch back to it. You can always use Google with one extra “rlslog” keyword after all…

New Section

I just wanna show you guys something for the ppl who really don’t like going through posts and not liking a certain type of category. Anyway it’s something basic, the section will show you the top 15 new posts for each category. So if you can’t be stuffed going through all the stuff we post in a day, just take a look there and see everything in one page.

Note: Be patient, the feeds are loaded via my server which is pretty slow. I am going to add the other section soon. If you have a feed reader you won’t have to use this. Also make sure you got JavaScript installed.

RLSLOG’s Hottest Chick Competition: Results

The idea of our latest competition spurred a bit of drama in comments, when many people didn’t realize we did it just for pure fun. Anyway, the 3-day competition for 3 Rapidshare Premium accounts is now over and I bring you the results: three (actually four) hottests RLSLOG chicks! The amount of entries wasn’t that high after all so we won’t make the public poll and vote about the results - we will reward 3 clearly best competitors who submitted a real pictures before the official deadline.

There were few of you who sent us awesome pictures but without the RLSLOG tag or after the deadline so we couldn’t count that. I had the best laugh over the pics from a guy who sent some compromising photos of his exgirlfriend, who cheated on him, but I will rather keep this private. Anyway, authors of these 3 pictures will be emailed the prize, courtesy of iX! Big thanks to everyone.

Winner #1 (”JB”, pro photo models + bonus pic)

Winner #2 (”Mo”)

Winner #3 (”MalaPlava”)

RLSLOG’s Hottest Chick Competition

Well I realized we haven’t had a competition here at Releaselog for a while so it’s time to fix it. It won’t be anything fancy this time with rewards worth of thousands of dollars as in case of our Birthday Competition, but it should be fun anyway. I guess the name says it all: RLSLOG’s Hottest Chick Competition!

The task is simple: grab your hot girlfriend, friend, wife, random chick in a club or whatever works for you and take a picture/video of her posing with a piece of paper with a text “I LOVE RLSLOG” on it. It’s simple as that. I don’t say we encourage nudity or anything like that, but your girl will probably know what works best to get men’s attention.

The reward? 3 Rapidshare Premium accounts for 3 best pics. If you are already thinking about launching a Photoshop and editing some picture from your private collection of porn, forget it - we will ask all potential winners for a proof of their girl (aka posing with the card in front of computer with RLSLOG loaded on background or something similar).

I guess it’s simple enough and I’m already looking forward to first entries. If you want to compete for one of the three Rapidshare Premium accounts, email your pics to rlslogcontest at gmail.com. The deadline is Wednesday 12 November (midnight, GMT), so you have 3 days to submit your pics. We will start a poll after collecting all entries, and you, RLSLOG readers will decide about the winners. Let the beauty contest begin!

ExtremeFFS: SanDisk’s 100x faster SSD drives

The future of storage is heading away from the spinning magnetic disks inside most of our computers and towards solid state drives. Besides the advantage of being much more reliable and durable, solid state drives (SSD) also have the advantage of being quicker to deliver data. SanDisk detailed today a new technology that it hopes to cement SSD as the performance choice, coupling it with new metrics. SanDisk explained its new file system technology for SSDs, which it calls the ExtremeFFS, at WinHEC 2008 in Los Angeles and boasts that it could boost random write speeds by up to 100 times over existing systems. The “FFS” in the brand stands for Flash File System (not the other use of the acronym) and the Extreme, of course, relates to SanDisk’s brand of premium flash products.

SanDisk appears to have geared its technology towards the needs of Windows Vista. ExtremeFFS operates on a page-based algorithm, which means there is no fixed coupling between physical and logical location. SanDisk explains that when a sector of data is written, ExtremeFFS puts it on the SSD where it is most convenient and efficient. This should result in an improvement in random write performance by up to 100 times in best case scenarios. SanDisk products with ExtremeFFS are expected to ship in 2009.
